WOW!!!  Here she is in all of her glory!
She looks MUCH more Shire-ish than
when she came!  She is just SUCH a
pretty mare and such a sweetie!  She
was SO excited when Heidi returned
home she nickered at Heidi when she
saw her well over 100 feet away!  We
have really nice views of the Rocky
Mountains which are the peaks directly
behind her!
Gabby was an absolutely incredible black Shire mare,
and was just the sweetest mare you would ever want to
meet.  I purchased her in June of 2005, she was
EXTREMELY skinny and arthritic and hadn't had a
hoof trim in quite some time.  I spent the next year
gaining back her health and good looks only to have it
come to a screeching halt in August of 2006.

Sadly on August 3rd 2006 I decided to make the heart
breaking decision to put Gabby down.  She was in so
much pain after surgery for Canker, she lost a TON of
weight because she didn't want to eat or drink, she
spent the majority of the time laying down in her stall.
On Thursday August 3rd, we had the vet out to do
x-ray's and see why she was so lame (much more than
before the surgery), to find that she had major arthritis
from her pastern down, she had torn the ligament from
the pasturn to the coffin bone so the coffin bone sank
due to no frog pressure, and the vet said the only way
to ensure a pain free life is to let her go. It was also on
that day I could see in her eyes she was tired of
fighting, she lost the magic in her eyes and spirit, she
wanted to go to a bigger better place.  So on that day,
with me watching over her, Gabby passed into the next
life.  So hopefully now she is having fun frolicking with
Ideal and others!  I will miss you beyond belief Gabby!
For those that don't know my dream for as long as I
can remember (the last 6 years plus) has been 3 part.
To own Heidi, to own Gabby, and to work for
BFSGH.  I accomplished my dream, only to have God
take away my girl.  I know with my faith there was
some motive behind it but until I figure out what that
motive is, it is killer trying to deal with her gone.  She
was SO loved around the farm and the farm is severly
lacking without the 18.2h sweetheart around.  I hope
someday I can come to terms with her death.  Until
then I have to thank her for all the memories she gave
me in our all too short friendship.
All pictures from here up were taken August 3rd 2006.  Her
left front is the one that had the Canker and that in the end
caused her demise.  You can see she is pretty thin and she
was so tired.  Hopefully she is having a fun pain free life now
and I wish her all the best and will pray for her constantly!
Pictures of her in better times

Here she is sitting with her boyfriend, Galway
Warrior.  She loved him whether she was in heat or
not!  At the time this pic was taken she was NOT in
heat!
