2007 Show Schedule!
NEWS!!!! I will be riding in the 2007 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California on January 1st 2007! I will be
riding alongside BFSGH's Jeff and Christine and a few members of the Gypsy Horse group located in California! I will be
riding BFSGH's amazing mare Dinah so if you have nothing better to do on January 1st, turn on the TV and look for the
Gypsy Horse group! We are just hoping and praying it doesn't rain again like it did last year!
March 10-13- Rocky Mountain Horse Expo- Was a great event and thanks to all those that came out! Enjoyed meeting you and
was happy to inform the public on the Gypsy Horses!
April 22nd-23rd- Spring Fling Horse Show at CSU. Heidi and Johnny and Jerica went! They all did great especially Johnny, he just
stood there like he had been doing this forever but it was actually his very first time! Everyone loved him and I was impressed on
how good he was and how clean he turned out as he is quite the dirty boy!
June 16th- Opening of the Gypsy Horses and the Traveller's Way Exhibit at the International Museum of the Horse in Lexington
KY, info below! Was an awesome event, see a pic of Tyson and I below at the event!
August 18,19,20 2006- Colorado Horse Park Draft Horse Show- Heidi and Johnny both attended the event. On Friday I decided
to take Heidi into the Shire mare Halter class. It was a small show since the Nationals were the week before but she went up against
two other Shire mares. Now Heidi is 9 years old which is on the older side to show since nothing beats youth, she is NOT shod with
the proper shoes as I won't shoe any of my horses just to win a class, and she has a full length tail. She took 2nd and beat out a
fully shod, docked Shire mare so was very impressed with her since she hasn't shown since she was a yearling! Johnny did
spectacular, was very calm and collected the entire time. The judge didn't like him but also didn't know how to judge Gypsies since
he had just seen the first one that day. Then took first place on BFSGH's Dinah in Barrel Racing and took first on BFSGH's
Babydoll in Gypsy English Pleasure. Was all in all a great show! Pics coming soon!

Here is a picture from the 2005
National Shire Show in Rifle CO. I
am aboard Black Forest Shires and
Gypsy Horses good mare Dinah (their
son Thomas is in front) and their
niece Katie is aboard another good
mare Babydoll (Jeff is in the
backround too). This was taken just
after the Draft Bareback class. Dinah
won 3rd and Babydoll won 2nd! It
was a great show and I had a great
time working for BFSGH both this
weekend and the Olde Tyme County
Fair the weekend before!

Heidi at Spring Fling

Here is the latest event we attended. We travelled 3000 miles round trip
to go to the Lexington, Kentucky event at the Kentucky Horse Park.
We travelled there for the opening of the "Gypsy Horses and the
Traveller's Way" Exhibit at the International Museum of the Horse. It
runs June 16th through September 16th and features art work from the
book by John Hockensmith. BFSGH brought horses to the opening
ceremonies (Dinah, Babydoll and Sunrise, Rom Baro (pictured at right),
and Blue Two) to give those attending a chance to interact with the
gypsies up close and personal. It was overall a very fun and eventful
event. To learn more of the book please visit "Gypsy Horses and the
Traveller's Way" to learn more of the book and the exhibit. Pictured at
right is me aboard Rom Baro (Tyson) on June 16th at the opening
ceremonies. He was a very good boy and as you can see he is mister
hair. His tail drags the ground by at least 2 feet and his mane goes down
to about his knees. Overall was a good show and Mr. Hockensmith
seem pleased so all and all a good show!
UPDATE 12/2007- Unfortuantely Tyson decided to go and join God's
Kingdom, which is very sad as he was a true asset to the breed and a
true gentleman to be around. I will miss you Tyson, we had many great
rides together and I will never forget any of them or you. RIP Tyson!

2006 Show Schedule
National Shire Show 2007
I took Avril out to Pomona, CA from September 26th through October 1st to give her experience in the world of showing. She didn't
show till Sunday September 30th but she learned bunches about all the different activities that take place at shows. Everything from
watching and being around hitches to watching and listening to mules to have people swarm all over her. She took it all in stride and
was SUCH a good baby! She didn't show well due to the fact she is going through HUGE growth spurts and looks more like a moose
than a Shire but she was SO well behaved. I would take well behaved ANY day over a 1st place from one judge. I was VERY proud
of her and she did so well! Below are some pictures of her at the show. She took 3rd out of 3 :)!

Upcoming Event!
UPDATE 12/17/07!!!- Well amazingly the time has come and gone and both Emily and Heidi performed at Follow the Star. Everyone
agrees, that Heidi and Emily were the Stars of Follow the Star. They both were absolutely perfect for all three performances and the
looks on the awe-inspired faces of the watchers was worth its weight in gold! They were definitely a hit and I could not be more proud of
them! Below are some pics from the event and the events leading up to the event! Enjoy!
December 16th-19th- Follow the Star at Chaparral Christian Church. It is a Christmas event put on by Chaparral Christian Church for the
children in the community to come and receive the spirit of the season! This year since I have become a member of the church they
would like to add horses to the event, so I happily agreed to supply Emily and Heidi for the show. It should be a great time, especially
watching the children's looks on their face when they see the giant ponies :)! Heidi will be the one ridden and Emily with her massive size
will just add to the display. Anyway more info will be announced when I know more!

was holding Emily for
the performances but
we had to get photo

took my place so I
could get photos.
Anyway, enjoy!

the experience! Just to let them have fun and get them in the public eye!
Follow the Star 2008, Chaparral Christian Church, Dec 12-14th, Scottsdale AZ
Heidi and Dinah
Heidi once again played the role of King Herod's Horse in the 2008 Christmas Show
put on by Chaparral Christian Church. This year Dinah stood alongside the very been
more perfect! The crowds were the largest this year in the history of the Show, so we
can only hope that word got out last year that there were live "Clydesdale" horses in the
show hence the larger crowds. Both girls did wonderful and I'm sure they will resurrect
their roles in 2009 as well!
Equine Affaire Pomona, Jan 29th-Feb 1st
Pomona, California
GCDHA (Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse
Association). She got to be in the booth
Dinah went along with a few horses from
twice and was quite the hit both times! It
was a great experience and my thanks to
Becky Glover of GCDHA for letting us
come represent them!
Pictured at left: Dinah in the Breed Booth
awaiting her next visitors!

2009 Parada Del Sol, Scottsdale Arizona
We got accepted to show off the Gypsies for the first
time at the Parada Del Sol which is a huge parade here
in the I would take Dinah to get her more experience
and she is a great example of a black and white Gypsy.
Dinah did absolutely perfect and was a shining
example of what this breed is all about; small,
powerful, flashy, overly willing to please, kind,
friendly, the list goes on and on! It was a great parade
and one we definitely hope to do next year!
Pictured at left; our parade group. Dinah and I on the
left walking, Jen of DJ on Cushla (red and white
mare), and Kim of Ruby Sky Ranch on Flash of Gold
(palomino stallion).
Below: some pics taken the morning of the parade.
February 23rd 2009 10:23pm
Heidi foaled the most
perfect bay filly with four
whites and a blaze. Her
name is Adrianna and can be
seen on here page here!
WELCOME ADRIANNA!
Dinah and Kahlua both got inspected on March 6th 2009 by
the GCDHA not muscled up enough yet due to her age to be a
1st premium. Becky and James both agreed that when she
gets more training whether it be driving or riding and gets up
the muscle tone she will for sure be a 1st Premium. We will
probably get her re-inspected next year in both halter and
driving. Kahlua received a 3rd Premium due to her drastic
underbite.
Then on March 8th, both girls got to share the spotlight
together and show off at the Performance Day of the Open
House. Dinah and Kahlua had a grand old time kicking up
their heels in front of the crowds and were such troopers
throughout the entire weekend! Am very proud of both of
them!

On March 30th 2009 at 7am, Belle decided to grace us with this
beautiful Bay Drum Horse colt named Ethan. Ethan is sired by the
one and only DJ Lenny's Horse and is Lenny's first Drum Horse!
Ethan sure did not disapoint and is sweet as can be and is a VERY
nice colt! Ethan will be for sale at weaning! WELCOME ETHAN!

April 4th 2009- Parade of Palms @ Chaparral Christian Church
The Shiredale crew participated in our second annual Parade of
Palms for our church, Chaparral Christian Church, and this year we
decided to stir it up and bring Heidi and her newborn baby Adrianna
to walk the parade route (1 block :)) and then sit around for an hour
and let the kids/families pet them. Both did exceptionally well,
Adrianna was only a month old and handled the huge crowds, the
floats, even being followed by a Fire Truck like a pro! She is such
an amazing filly and adjusts to any situation with loved being able to
run their hands through Adrianna's incredibly Draft Horse shows in
the fall! A big thanks to Barb Hostleter for taking this wonderful
picture of the girls walking the parade route!
June 1st- September 1st
Dinah went off to Trish DeMers place in Lancaster, CA. Dinah
spent 3 months with Trish learning and ins and outs of driving and
she excelled, not that that is suprising. She walks down the road in
Fiesta Island, San Diego, CA August 31st 2009
Before returning to Phx with Dinah, I headed south to visit
my great friend Sandi and her two Gypsy boys Miles and
Dusty. We took them to the beach and they all had a
BLAST!!! We decided Dinah was either a fish or a snorkler n
a previous life, she kept drinking the saltwater, playing,
splashing and soaking her feet. She had such a fun time and
we are really excited about taking them back to the beach in
2010 and riding and swimming with them!

The Show Circuit, WestWorld, Scottsdale AZ 6pm (rained all
morning which kept many showers at bay :( ) September 5th
2009.
Results:
1st 2yr old plus Stock Type Mare (out of 1)
Grand Champion Halter Horse (out of 2)
Was a very small show in terms of the halter department due to
the rain in Phoenix in the morning. I am MOST proud of us
though in that Dinah and I have been seperated for the past 3
months and I picked her up not even 5 days ago and we went
back into the show ring with no training/lessons since picking her
up, and act as a well oiled machine! She is a superstar and
always will be! I LOVE HER!!!!

Blue Ribbon Horse Show, Phoenix, AZ, September 12th 2009
Dinah: 3rd out of 6
Kahlua: 3rd out of 3
This was our first time going to the Blue Ribbon show and also our
last. It is a very different very high end show that specializes in
Paint Horses and the Gypsies are a far way away from the Paint
breed. Both Dinah and Kahlua did wonderful with several other
horses around them acting up and they could care less. Much
thanks to Kimberly Ruskanen from Colorado for being in town to
help show Kahlua, and a huge thanks to left. It was a fun show but
will be sticking with the Show Circuit!

LA County Fair/International Draft Horse Show, Pomona CA
Dinah went and showed in the Gypsy Mare Halter class. The
judge didn't like her at all so she placed 4th out of 4. He is a
Draft Horse hitch judge and Gypsies are a pretty far cry from
Hitch Horses. Dinah was absolutely superb throughout the whole
experience and never flinched even with the 6-up hitches and
Mules, etc! Very proud of her!
The Show Circuit, October 17th 2009, WestWorld, Scottsdale AZ
Dinah: 2nd out of 3 in 2yr + Stock Type Mare
1 out of 1 in Tobiano Color class
Dinah again was wonderful and taught many newcomers what a
Gypsy Horse is! She is such a star!
Autumnfest- October 30th 2009, Chaparral Christian Church
Heidi and Dinah once again teamed up to treat the children
visiting CCC to a pony ride on Heidi and the chance to get to
pet and interact with Dinah. Both girls did wonderful and
Heidi gave rides to literally over 100 kids. Next year Dinah will
join Heidi in giving rides to help alleviate the wait time!

Cave Creek Wild West Days- Cave Creek, AZ November 7th 2009
Desert Jewel & Shiredale got invited by the Feathered Horses of
Arizona association to join them at Cave Creek Wild West Days and
introduce attendees to the Gypsy Horse. My good friend Kim was
back in town so we took Dinah and Desert Jewel Fable to go meet the
crowds, and while we were there for four hours, there was non-stop
people in front of Dinah and Fable! They were absolutely perfect as
always and really enjoyed letting the public from infants to
grandparents pet them and their flowing manes. Dinah and Fable
were truly superstars and will surely be seen at shows together in the
future as well!

The Show Circuit, November 29th 2009, WestWorld
Results: 2yr+Stock Type Mare- 1st out of 1
Tobiano Class-1st ouf of 3
Heidi and Dinah went to the Show Circuit show on
September 29th. Dinah was in two classes. After Dinah's
classes, there was the first annual "Parade of Breeds" so
both Dinah and Heidi were invited to participate in that to
be breed representatitves for the Gypsy and Shire Horse.
It was a fun show as always and was the last Show Circuit
of 2009. It was a fun show series and we are eagerly
awaiting the 2010 season
2010 Events:
"Follow the Star" Christmas Show @ Chaparral Christian
Church, December 11th-13th, Scottsdale, AZ
Heidi and Dinah once again reprised their roles for the
Christmas show and was once again another really
successful event! Both girls did wonderful for their
performances and Heidi once again carried our pastor
Frank (aka King Herod in the show) around and allowed
him to saw his lines with ease. Both girls did fantastic
and look forward to doing it again next year!

Shiredale welcomes BFS Alfie's Annie to the herd! May 9th 2009.
I flew out to Colorado on March 14th to take a break and relax at
my parents house for the weekend. Little did I know a visit to
BFSGH would eventually lead to adding a new Shire mare to the
herd! I met "Annie" at the time called April's 2007 filly while
there as I had wanted to see her and compare to Avril, which is
when I saw of her "uniqueness" :). It was then that BFSGH
announced they would be auctioning off everything except for a
few that couldn't be auctioned. I told them I would love to add
Annie to the herd as just a pet where she would be loved and
taken care of for the rest of her days. They agreed and I drove
up to Colorado to get her on May 8th 2009. Returned to Arizona
on May 10th with Annie and some Gypsy weanlings and as they
say the rest is history :).
WELCOME ANNIE!

Shiredale welcomes Black Forest Ideal Faye to the herd!
September 1st 2009.
I was fully not intending to add another Shire to the herd, but as
fate would have it, she was a Gracie daughter and was stabled just
10 minutes from where Dinah was in CA when I went to pick
Dinah up, so decided to come back with both Dinah and Faye!
Can't wait to spend more time with her, she will hopefully become
the next Heidi in terms of riding, etc. WELCOME FAYE!
Shiredale says goodbye to Kahlua! December 9th 2009.
Kahlua has been sold to a wonderful lady named Lisa
Stehl in California that will be taking Kahlua to
Reinaissance Faires and she will learn tricks and keep
everyone entertained with her hours of humor :). Kahlua
will have the best home there and will be an ambassador
for the Gypsy Angel program! Good luck to Kahlua and
Lisa and all of your future endeavors!!
